World Book Day, March 4th 2010
World Book Day – Four students represented Harris Boys’ Academy at Harris City Academy Crystal Palace on World Book Day, 4th March 2010. The students from the Academy, Cairo Applewhaite, Kareem Kosoko, Baboucarr Gaye and Edward Obelley, presented their choices for the categories of Best Book for Boys, Best Book for Girls, Best Overall Read for 2010, All-time Classic Read and Overall Winner 2010. The students did the school proud as they explained their book choices to other students across the federation, outlining reasons for their choices.
The boys also had the opportunity to listen to other students’ choices on the day and were eager, attentive and enthusiastic as they discussed their decisions. After voting for an Overall Winner (Darren Shan), they set to work writing a letter to the author explaining that his book was chosen as the most popular book for Year7 students to read. It was a fun day where the students were able to interact with other Year7 students from across the Harris Federation.
