New Cultural Horizons Programme - This Week
Years 7-9 will enjoy two weeks of great experiences as part of our first ever Cultural Horizons Programme in July.
The programme is designed to give students new cultural and creative experiences in order to broaden their horizons.
“We’ve got trips planned to places such as Dover Castle (pictured) and Bewl Water, a reservoir and nature reserve in Kent, as well as to Canterbury to watch a performance of the Canterbury Tales,” said Assistant Principal, Harry Ingham. “There’s Viva Espana, an event to celebrate Spanish culture and sporting events too.”
Romeo board game
When pupils are not involved in one of these activities, their lessons will be focused on creative elements of the lessons they are in. Rather than reading about the Battle of Hastings, they’ll act it out, for example. Rather than write an essay explaining how Romeo feels, they’ll design a board game based on his experiences!
“HBAED is committed to broadening our pupils’ cultural experiences and providing opportunities for them to further their artistic and creative skills,” added Mr Ingham. “The Cultural Horizons Programme is designed to fulfil these aims – and also be a fun and exciting way to end a fantastic school year!”
