Exam Preparation

GCSE revision support or interventions for Year 11 begins in September and runs until the Summer examinations.

Adequate preparation for your GCSEs and organised revision sessions will help you achieve the best from your time.  Why not download our booklet Preparing for Success: A student guide to effective exam preparation.

Exam preparation schedule 2017

You will be able to download the exam preparation schedule for summer 2017 from here along with the letter to parents/carers about GCSE exam preparation.

This schedule is a bespoke timetable covering the school day and after-school intervention classes which will begin from May 2017. This schedule maximises the time that each pupil gets with their class teachers of particular subjects at a critical point during the exam season. It is tailored to complement the exam dates and sessions that each individual pupil sits.

Revision guides and timetables

Download a list of revision guides which are recommended by your teachers to prepare you for the GCSEs, and see our revision tips presentation.

You can also download a sample revision timetable, and a blank revision timetable which you can download and complete.

Revision and progress intervention

Each learning hub has revision and progress intervention running after school each week (see chart below). For Year 11, they run from 3.00-4.30pm Monday, Friday and 4.00-5.30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Year 11 are also placed into intervention tutor groups in order to maximise the time they have with subject specialist teachers. These groups focus on key aspects of the specification and assessment requirements in addition to the general Year 11 tutor programme. Pupils are currently working in EBacc subject groups plus vocational courses, depending on their current progress. These groups remain fluid and are reviewed every half term.

These interventions will be run by teaching staff from each hub and will focus on progress or preparation for GCSE exams. Students will be informed of these sessions by their subject teacher and parents will be informed by a letter.

Formal interventions for years 7-10 will take place by learning hub and begin after the first assessment cycle.
