HBAED In Top 3% Of Schools Nationally For Student Progress

BuildingHarris Boys' Academy East Dulwich is in the top 3% of secondary schools in England and Wales for student progress, according to the final exam statistics for 2022 that have now been released by the Department for Education (DfE).

Our Progress 8 score (ie the measure of how much progress students make at the academy) is 0.83, making us the joint highest-performing academy in the Harris Federation.

Progress nationally is always 0 on the Progress 8 measure, meaning that half of the 3,458 schools in England and Wales score above 0 and half below it. The average Progress 8 score of Southwark schools is 0.34, which is one of the best in the country. However, students at HBAED achieve on average half a grade higher than this for each subject they study.

"We are incredibly proud of our students' achievements," said Executive Principal, Peter Groves. "At the heart of our success is an absolute belief in the ability of every student to shine – no matter what their background, ability or character. We will accept no excuses for being anything but the best we can be."

Only one boys' school nationally, of those with a similar intake to ours, has better progress data. The Academy's EBacc average points score of 4.92 is also significantly above the national average of 4.27.
