Thank You Books: Year 11 Leavers Give the Gift of Reading
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the parents and carers of our Year 11 leavers for their thoughtful and generous gifts through our annual Thank You Books initiative.
This special gesture, made in appreciation of the dedication and support of our teaching staff, has resulted in a wonderful collection of new books for the school. These titles will not only enrich our library but will also provide lasting benefits for current and future students.
Among the gifted books are several dyslexia-friendly editions of key English GCSE texts, helping to ensure that all students can access and enjoy important literature.
Alongside these, families have generously gifted books that will help us to build a more diverse and inclusive library, as well as titles from the annual EmpathyLab book collection, which promotes empathy, understanding and compassion through reading.
We are truly grateful for the kindness and generosity shown by our Year 11 families. The Thank You Books initiative is a meaningful way to celebrate students’ time at school while leaving a positive and lasting legacy for others.
Literacy Lead and Year 11 English teacher Ms Cunningham says:
“It’s incredibly touching to receive such a thoughtful gift. Knowing these books will be used by students for years to come makes it even more meaningful. Reading plays such an important role in learning, and this will make a real difference.”
Librarian Mrs Edwards says:
“We are delighted to add these books to our collection. The inclusion of dyslexia-friendly GCSE texts, alongside diverse titles and EmpathyLab selections, helps ensure that all students can see themselves reflected in what they read and develops a real love of reading.”
