Top Talent Bursaries

Our Top Talent bursary pathways are designed to unlock the full potential of students from all backgrounds.

Students have the opportunity to apply for one of eight Top Talent pathways. These are specific programmes that students follow throughout Years 7-11 at the Academy, where they can specialise in their chosen area and receive incredible extra support.  The eight Top Talent bursary pathways are:   

• Cricket - In collaboration with Surrey County Cricket Club, 360 Cricket and ACE
• Football 
• Basketball 
• Music 
• Art  
• Drama 
• Science 
• Maths

The Top Talent programme

In addition to the Top Talent bursary pathways (see above) we also offer a separate Top Talent programme to the top ten students by attainment in each year group, based on the most recent summer assessment scores in English and Maths (or based on their Attainment 8 scores).

In addition, there will be five additional students who are receiving Pupil Premium or Free School Meals, or who have English as an additional language, or special education needs. We will also identify creative talents in each year group – students who excel in Art, Music and Drama.

What opportunities might students enjoy?

The Top Talent programme will open more doors for our students so that they can benefit from opportunities and experiences that will help bridge the gap with students from more affluent backgrounds.

We will do this by organising more visits to top universities and leading employers, and by regularly inviting external visitors to deliver assemblies and workshops at the school. We will also seek to enrich students' cultural awareness through visits to museums, galleries and theatres.

We will provide greater autonomy for our most able students, encouraging them to take greater responsibility for their learning and for shaping their own futures. We will do this through initiatives that support independent learning and provide students with the appropriate resources.

We will also help them develop the key skills they will need to succeed in their future careers - particularly critical thinking, creativity and collaboration.
