Students Join Panel at 'Now Teach' Annual Conference

It was a pleasure attending the annual Now Teach conference on Saturday 11th July 2026.

The highlight for me was the Student Voices in Conversation panel discussion, which some students from our school took part in: D’arcy, Elshaddai and Miles (who have just completed Year 11) and Mohamed (who has just completed Year 13).

The student panellists were absolutely brilliant and they highlighted the importance of having more “career changer” teachers with experience of life beyond school.

The students also enjoyed networking with teachers and other professionals from a range of different backgrounds, and listening to the inspirational presentation by Musharraf Asghar, who featured in the Educating Yorkshire documentary.

As part of our Personal Development and Student Leadership programme, we aim to provide opportunities for students to develop their public speaking and critical thinking skills.

It was great seeing the students rising to the occasion when given a platform to express their views.

A huge thank you to all the students and everyone at Now Teach who helped to organise the event and extended this opportunity to our students. Now Teach plays a vital role in recruiting and retaining professionals from a range of other sectors, helping to bridge the gap between the world of schools and work.
