Year 10 Drama Students Return to The Old Vic for 'A Christmas Carol'

Year 10 Drama Students Return to The Old Vic for 'A Christmas Carol'

Our Year 10 GCSE Drama students enjoyed their second theatre visit of the year, returning to the iconic Old Vic on 27th November to watch the much-loved production of A Christmas Carol.

This year’s performance starred Paul Hilton as Ebenezer Scrooge, delivering a powerful and emotional portrayal of the famous character. His performance brought Dickens’ classic miser to life with depth, tension, and heartfelt transformation –  a highlight frequently noted by reviewers and clearly felt by our students.

From the atmospheric lighting and Victorian staging to the energy of the cast and the live music, the performance created an unforgettable festive experience. The trip linked closely to students’ GCSE Drama studies, giving them valuable insight into professional performance techniques and production design.

The group returned full of excitement, and all students are already looking forward to their next theatre visit as part of the GCSE Drama programme. Experiences like this continue to inspire our young performers and deepen their understanding of the craft. Thank you Ms Okai, Ms Tyrell and Mr Rhodes.

What students said...

“The production was amazing. When Scrooge said, ‘Why wasn’t I enough?’ it really hit me – it made the whole story feel more real and emotional.”

“I loved how the actors moved through the audience and how the staging made it feel like we were part of the story. It was magical, and it made me appreciate live theatre.
