Harrison, Year 7

Harrison, Year 7

"My favourite thing in Year 7 has been making new friends and having different and new experiences."

Making new friends for me was not a challenge because everyone is very friendly, so when I met new people I had friendly conversations including with football at break and lunch.

For me the biggest challenge that I have faced is the amount of work we have to do as it is a lot more than primary, but I just got used to it which helped me overcome it. And the teachers are generally very helpful and encouraging at every moment.

The general atmosphere is a positive and supportive atmosphere with my peers in the the school being really nice and the teachers in this school being great.

My favourite lesson of the week is PE because we get to travel on the minibus to an amazing facility and sport is something that I really like and we get to try lots of new sports. The most exciting thing that I have done in Year 7 is travelling to Maidstone to play a football match.

I think this year I have grown as a person massively because I have interacted with different people and I know how to be with certain people. And next year I’m looking forward to trips that are specifically meant for older boys and playing 11-a-side football matches with the school team.

What advice would you give to students in Year 6?

Make sure you enjoy it because it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience and the people are friendly, and don't worry about the negatives, but [focus on] the positives.
