Delwyn, Year 7

"It makes me excited the new wonders and subjects I could learn, giving me knowledge."
At first, I was nervous and thought I wouldn't make many friends, but that feeling went away really fast as I bonded and found people that I made friends with easily. In my head I thought pushing through Year 7 would be hard but it wasn't really that bad in my opinion.
The biggest challenge I faced was my first Federation assessment. It got me worried and anxious about my score and how it would affect me. I was also worried about how I would do in this test but overall it wasn't bad and I managed to go through well and did pretty good for my first one. I managed to stay in the same set for everything which made me relieved and thought there was no stress on my next few big tests.
The teachers are nice and generous. They make lessons fun and enjoyable to do and they make learning easier for me. They take care of us well and solve messy or bad situations well, giving you a safer feeling in the school. They take care of the school gently and are very kind-hearted to the students.
Once you settle in the first few weeks, it will be ok. You will feel that the atmosphere is comforting and it won’t take long for you to be happy and comfortable around people you trust and like. Eventually, you will be ready to push through and feel cared for wherever you are in the school.
Drama is my favourite lesson. In my opinion, it's really fun. There’s no need for equipment and acting is very fun. Participating in drama lessons gets me excited because at no point does drama gets boring for me as I generally love acting.
The most exciting thing in Year 7 has been making friends. It made me feel I could fit in and loved around people. I gained people I could trust and talk to, making me feel less nervous. They make me happy and joyful to be in the space around the school.
I've become smarter because, as I said, the teachers make learning engaging and are really good at making you learn new things you haven't learnt before. I also think I've improved in creativity due to new subjects and new ways of learning things, making it easier to do.
I look forward to new friends (possibly) and new subjects to learn. It makes me excited the new wonders and subjects I could learn, giving me knowledge. I also look forward to my GCSEs as they decide my future and what I do, giving me even more motivation to push through Year 7 and the rest.
What advice would you give to students in Year 6?
I would say that people are as nervous as you and probably think the same, so not to worry as I can guarantee it will be easy to find people you like, have similar interests, or anything. Just make sure to be yourself around people you trust, so the experience will be a lot easier and better for you.
