Inside Our New Sensory Room
We are delighted to introduce our sensory room, a calm and supportive space designed to help students regulate their emotions and wellbeing throughout the school day.
The sensory room has been made possible thanks to the fundraising efforts of Lloyd Edwards, teacher of PE and Innovation Lead for Bursary, whose hard work and dedication helped raise the money needed to set up our sensory room. Without this, launching a sensory room would not have been possible, and we are extremely grateful for his contributions and the students benefit massively from it.
This room was carefully designed by an occupational therapist, who ensured that the sensory room was equipped appropriately.
The sensory room is a safe environment for students with SEN need where they can take a short break, reset, and regulate their emotions if/when needed, supervised by a staff member at all times. By spending some time in the sensory room, students are able to return to lesson feeling calmer, more regulated, focused and ready to learn.
We are proud to be able to offer this space as part of our commitment to inclusion strategies and wellbeing.
