Lifelong Readers - Celebrating Our New Elite And Super Readers

We are delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our latest Lifelong Readers. A huge congratulations goes to Martin, who has earned the top status of Elite Reader after reading for pleasure an incredible twelve books, a complete journey through the library’s 12 genres since September.

Lifelong Readers is an optional library initiative designed to help students aged 11–16 discover books they genuinely enjoy and develop a habit of reading that lasts a lifetime. It is a partnership between parents and librarian Mrs Edwards, working together to create a future generation of well-read young men. New this year, already over 175 families are currently taking part.

In the photo here, Martin is proudly holding his twelfth title Marcus Rashford’s You Are a Champion! a fitting final read for a student who has shown such determination and enthusiasm!

Reflecting on his reading journey, Martin says: “I really enjoyed Lifelong Readers because it helped me explore new genres that I hadn’t read before. Before Lifelong Readers I mostly read Fantasy stories, but I have discovered that I like Horror and Suspense stories too, and Science Fiction. I would absolutely recommend Lifelong Readers to other students, it really is a nice experience.”

We are equally proud of our new Super Readers: Guilio, Paolo, Rashed, Aitzaz and Sanjyan, each of whom has read six books across different genres to secure their status. These students have shown real commitment to reading for pleasure, which is at the heart of the experience.

Participating students choose books from year‑group reading lists curated by librarian Mrs Edwards and can work towards Super or Elite Reader status as they progress. Any student who would like to take part simply needs to borrow a book from their year group reading list and begin their journey!
