Art Bursaries Build Creative Skills Through Weekly Art Club

The Art bursary has had a positive and creative start to the year, with students engaging enthusiastically in the weekly Tuesday Art Club.

As Head of Art, I am pleased to see bursary students benefiting from regular sessions led by our Artist in Residence, Molly Burrows. The club provides a supportive space for students to explore materials, develop technical skills and grow in confidence beyond the classroom.

This term, students have been completing a series of specially designed Art Prompt projects. These prompts encourage students to think creatively, take risks and respond independently to a range of starting points, materials and themes. Each completed prompt earns students Harris Points, recognising commitment, focus and sustained engagement.

Across the sessions, students have explored drawing and mixed media approaches, gradually developing more confident and personal responses. Attendance has been strong, and students are beginning to show greater independence and pride in their work as the term progresses.

Looking ahead, the Art bursary pathway will continue to introduce new creative prompts and materials, with opportunities for students to develop more resolved outcomes and build a small portfolio of work across the academic year.

If you have any questions about the Art bursary pathway, please contact Mr Murray at j.murray@harrisdulwichboys.org.uk.
