Match report by Emmanuel, Year 9.
In a display of grit and clinical finishing, the Year 9 football team at Harris Dulwich Boys secured a 2-1 victory over a resilient Harris Clapham side. The match was defined by disciplined defending and two moments of individual brilliance from the frontline.
Harris Clapham started strong, proving that they were a physical side and hungry to progress in the Harris Cup. However, the scoring opened with a fantastic effort from Junior, who battled his way through three defenders to strike a sweet half volley, finding the bottom corner to put the boys ahead. Half-time, 1-0.
The opposition where not going down without a fight, keeping the pressure high throughout the middle periods of the game. It was Noah who stepped up to double the advantage, showing great composure to work his way from a wide position into the box, and slotting the ball into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.
Despite a late push and a goal from Clapham to narrow the margin, the squad held firm until the final whistle to progress into the next round of the Harris Cup. Man of the match went to Emmanuel for his strong work in the midfield, and special mention to Jack who made a fantastic debut.
