Travel & Tourism
Travel and Tourism is a fantastic vocational subject that students can select as a GCSE option. It draws skills from a range of other subjects to immerse students in the global community and the way that tourism impacts it.
From earthquakes and pandemics through to recession and sustainable travel, students will tackle a broad spectrum of topics while constantly asking themselves: "how is tourism impacting the world we live in".
If students select Travel and Tourism as a GCSE Option, they will blend coursework and exam to make the subject accessible to all learners. In Year 10, students will study two coursework components. Initially they will explore Organisations and Destinations as they learn about the fundamental building blocks of one of the biggest industries in the UK. This is followed by an analysis of customer needs as students learn about the ways that the industry has to adapt to its diverse community.
By Year 11, students will be preparing for an exam where they will be assessed on their understanding of the factors that affect tourism including political, economic and natural factors. Students will be equipped to evaluate the cultural and environmental impacts of tourism in a subject that places learning into a real world context.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Mark Twain
