Chris Brett Appointed as the New Principal

Chris BrettDear Parents/Carers, 
 
I am delighted to be able to announce that I have been appointed as Principal of Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich. My appointment was confirmed last week by our Chair of Governors, Katharine Wootton and Harris Federation CEO Sir Dan Moynihan after a rigorous interview process.  
 
As many of you will know, I have been leading as Head of Academy since July 2022 and our huge success in securing GCSE results for our students that place us in the Top 5% of all schools nationally last year was an important part of the decision to give me the wonderful opportunity to be Principal.  
 
Peter Groves, our former Principal and current Executive Principal remains with us in that capacity but his time is split across a number of Harris Federation Academies. However, his experience is invaluable in supporting our continual development and improvement as an Academy.  
 
My vision for Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich is to truly embrace our place as a proper community school, serving and celebrating an incredible diverse and inclusive intake of students. I believe education is the key to social mobility and every child has the right to an outstanding education. We do not limit places at our brilliant Academy based on Religion or ability, instead we embrace fundamental British values of Tolerance and Respect, creating an Academy reflective of our local community and its incredible diversity. 
 
The development of our mixed 6th Form and the desire of female and external students to attend our excellent provision is testament to this. Myself and my amazing team of teachers and associate staff, will continue to work tirelessly to ensure students leave us with the Master Key to their future through achieving excellent academic outcomes and developing as Active Citizens. 
 
I look forward to many years of continued success where students thrive. In our small setting, focused on being experts in educating Boys in years 7-11, we are able to support every individual student to get the most out of their education.  Our Welfare and student support team here are second to none and we will continue to do everything we can for every single student.  
 
I am very proud to have the honour to be able to lead this Academy.
