Students Meet Stormzy at Merky FC in Croydon

A group of our students had the privilege of recently attending the launch of Merky FC Headquarters – a new multi-purpose centre in Croydon providing opportunities for young people across football, music and gaming, created through a partnership between Stormzy and Adidas.

Twenty eight students from Year 7-10 spent the afternoon with the superstar, participating in a variety of challenges on the brand-new football pitch and then got treated to a ‘cheeky Nandos’, in addition to receiving a Merky FC football kit. Read more about Merky FC.

What students said...

"The day started with a Merky FC’s designated coach picking us up and taking us to the venue. On arrival we were greeted by Merky FC crew who gave us a tour and a minor briefing on the job roles available in sport. We then got given gifts (football kit and boots). Once geared up we headed to the new football pitch and started exciting challenges. Not to forget that we met Brighton’s Premier League sensation Tariq Lamptey and the main man, Stormzy. The day ended with us taking pictures with them. All in all, an experience to never forget. Massive thanks for Merky FC, Ms St Ange and Mr Richard-Tagoe for an amazing day." Joseph

"Yesterday was very fun and we got to wear with a kit with our initials on the back. The challenges that we did were very exciting like the shooting drill, we had 15 seconds to shoot as many penalties as possible, and then find out the score after. We had Nandos after, it was a really fun day." Bailey

"On Thursday 2nd May we made a trip down to Merky FC Headquarter at Selhurst Sports Arena. We met Tariq Lamptey from the Premier League and participated in many challenges on the pitch. We then met the main man ‘Stormzy’. We were gifted lots of things from Adidas/Merky FC and that did us nicely. We left in the coach, our faces bright, as we thanked Ms St Ange, as it would not been possible without her and Mr Richard-Tagoe, who is very slow!" Charlie.
