"I'm just emailing to say how impressed I was with the manners of one of your pupils (I'd guess year 9 or 10) who opened the shop door and held it open for me to leave. It was polite and considerate and I felt compelled to email." Local resident

Exam Preparation

Adequate preparation for your GCSEs and organised revision sessions will help you achieve the best from your time.

Revision guides and tips

To help you, our teachers have prepared some subject-by-subject revision resources to help you prepare you for the GCSEs. Here are three presentatons we've prepared that are very relevant to anyone revising too, so do check them out:

To help you plan your revision we've also created a sample revision timetable to show what one might look like, and a blank revision timetable which you can download and complete.

Presentions for parents

Here's our presentation to parents made at our Year 11 'core night' for parents in March 2018. You can also download our presentations on supporting your son in Maths and English Language and Literature.

Easter interventions for Year 11

Here's a list of the interventions for Year 11 taking place over the Easter holidays. We look forward to seeing you there!

Exam preparation schedule - Summer 2018

You will be able to download the exam preparation schedule for summer 2018 from here along with the letter to parents/carers about GCSE exam preparation. This schedule is a bespoke timetable covering the school day and after-school intervention classes which will begin from May 2018. This schedule maximises the time that each pupil gets with their class teachers of particular subjects at a critical point during the exam season.

Revision and progress intervention

GCSE revision support or interventions for Year 11 run throughout the year. Each learning hub has revision and progress intervention running after school each week.

For Year 11, they run from 3.00-4.30pm Monday, Friday and 4.00-5.30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Year 11 are also placed into intervention tutor groups in order to maximise the time they have with subject specialist teachers. These groups focus on key aspects of the specification and assessment requirements in addition to the general Year 11 tutor programme.

Pupils are currently working in EBacc subject groups plus vocational courses, depending on their current progress. These groups remain fluid and are reviewed every half term. These interventions will be run by teaching staff from each hub and will focus on progress or preparation for GCSE exams. Students will be informed of these sessions by their subject teacher and parents will be informed by a letter. Formal interventions for years 7-10 will take place by learning hub and begin after the first assessment cycle.
