Year 11 Parents Gift 'Thank You Books' to the School Library

In a wonderful show of appreciation, parents of this year’s Year 11 leavers have gifted a selection of 'Thank You Books' to the school library each one a tribute to the teachers who have supported and inspired their children throughout their time at HBAED.

The Thank You Books project was organised by librarian Ms Edwards, who curated a vibrant mix of fiction and non-fiction titles for parents to choose from. Reflecting the diverse interests of students, the collection includes gripping fiction in the most popular genres, alongside standout reference books covering sport, music, fashion, technology and the natural world.

Among the highlights are titles featuring sporting legends LeBron James and Lionel Messi, the iconic naturalist Sir David Attenborough, fashion visionary Virgil Abloh, and music innovator Pharrell Williams. One of the most talked-about additions is the stunning Taschen Sneaker Book – a visual celebration of sneaker culture that’s already drawing attention from students and staff alike.

Parents were invited to purchase a book from a Gift List on Amazon.co.uk and write a message of thanks if they wished. These books will now live in the school library, serving as a lasting legacy of gratitude and a source of inspiration for future students.

“There’s something really special about these books,” says principal Mr Brett. “They’re not just great reads – they’re a reminder of the strong connection between our families and our school.”

Parents have sent very kind messages to the staff with their books. One parent says: “Thank You Books is a wonderful initiative. We’re very happy to be involved!”

Ms Edwards says: “We have such lovely families in our school community. So many parents want to show their gratitude but aren’t sure how to do it. Thank You Books makes it easy for parents to do that, while also benefitting younger students for years to come. I’m looking forward to establishing this as an annual tradition!”

It’s not too late to gift a Thank You Book

There’s still time to get involved! Parents who haven’t yet had the chance to contribute can still purchase a Thank You Book via our Amazon Gift List.

Let’s continue to celebrate our teachers – one book at a time.
